Laurens Poelhekke

Tell me a bit about yourself (Name, Date of Birth, Background education, With corepics since?

I am Laurens Poelhekke, born in 1989. Currently I’m a student of civil engineering at the TU Delft. I got into photography and the stock business through a flat-mate of mine who was working for Hugo de Wolf. Before I met him in 2008 I had never touched a digital SLR and a year later I find myself one of the founders of a photography company doing a fair share of the photography.

Who is your role model?

Not sure if I really have one.

What do you do with your spare time?

Most of my time is spend with my flat-mates and girlfriend. When summer comes I like to sail on catamarans and small open boats, whether it’s for sport or as an instructor for kids and adults. Otherwise I like cycling, speed skating and

What are your 3 favourite bands?

Haha, not sure if I have those either.

What is your role within Corepics?

I keep track of our financials and make sure we pay our taxes in time. More importantly I also shoot and make sure we stick to our planning during our shoots.

Where does Corepics stand in 10 years time?

In ten years… Corepics will be the largest stock-photography producer in The Netherlands, own its own studio and most importantly will still be run because it is fun to do.

Which are your three favorite photos of the Corepics Collection?

Not very ‘stocky’ are they? I really like the harsh cross processing of the first one. The second is just a great picture. About the third image: I like the action, and the feeling it creates as if you’re almost there, at the scene

If you would like to change one thing in the photo-stock industry, what would it be?

Royalties.
