Another minishoot after our trip to the supermarket. Breaking the lock of a bicycle using a grinding machine. Another quick exersise using a speed light and slow shutter speeds. All intended at preparing for bigger events. (No, won't go into specifics, now. Guess you'll have to stay tuned, or subscribe to our RSS feed!)

Its something we face rather frequently: Shopping for groceries… Plenty of choice in a supermarket :) Groceries shopping Originally arranged as a training session, and predominantly a learning experience, we aimed at perfecting our skills to get things right in-camera. Using a deliberate shallow Depth of field, various zoom techniques, and as combination of a fill flash, together with a panning camera, we aimed at obscuring as many trademarks whilst pressing the shutter as possible. Not an easy challenge, but fun for an hour or two. Despite our efforts, quite a bit of post processing in retouching logos was unavoidable. Thanks to our current featured model, the images turned out pretty nice, I think!

Constantly looking for new opportunities and locations for a shoot, we ended up at a modern dairy farm “Boerderij de Kasteelhoeve“, where we were generously welcomed by Leo and Marjo Duivenvoorden, who showed us around their modern and state of the art premisis. Although we’re still processing the images, I thought I’d already share a few with you…

Taking another “not-so-well” covered take at sports – and Olympic Sports, that is – we were fortunate enough to work together with a top curling team, to shoot some unusual photos. Curling tactics With special thanks to the Curling Rink in Zoetermeer, Team Vilain and Laurens van der Windt, we’re more than happy to present you with the dynamics and dynamism of Curling.

In the cold days of December, people gather around for the holidays. Cozy, snug and comfortable, around the fireplace. And we’ve reserved a spot for you! As winter lasts longer than Christmas alone, we left out the tree and decorations. January, February and March may also turn out to be cold in the Northern Hemisphere – something a lot of people in the stock industry tend to forget!

Well into spring we decided to move back into the studio once more to take some pictures of our very own Hugo as a crazy chemist. As this topic is very much a ‘do not try this at home’ one we decided to take the necessary precautions while doing them anyway. As can be seen in the pictures we transformed Hugo into a weathered professional wearing the required amount of personal protection.

Quite unplanned, we got to spend a beautiful autumn afternoon at the beach, in the company of three very relaxed models. It all added up, resulting in quite a few cool images, and lots more to follow! This setting calls for more, all we have to do now is hope for a bit of luck with the weather next time we go out.

Shooting clichés is considered to be out of bounds. Numerous blogs, forums and other websites providing tips for stock photographers, discuss this taboo on clichés. The evidence is out there – the stock sites, a PicNiche article, on Mystockphoto and the microstockdiaries views on Clichés. There’s even a website containing the 101 most frowned upon clichés for marketing a business. Never the less, we deliberately decided to have a go at shooting clichés. Conciously, and of sound mind. Several of them. With one difference: we turned our weekly minishoot into an in-company competition, to stimulate creativity, train associative techniques in new concept generation based on existing themes, post-processing techniques, and evolve our understanding of commercial viability of images.
